Every Day is a Holiday

Eating at Your Desk

Crackers Over the Keyboard Day is  when you are actually suppose to eat crackers over your keyboard.  If you work in an office you may have a co-worker or two that don't actually need a special day to eat or anything else over their keyboards. I know we are all guilty of it at some time or the other.  For anyone who thinks this holiday is a daily occurrence this Computer Mini Vacuum is a great gift. I mean canned air can only do so much.

No Reason

Just Because Day mean you can do things just because.  You don't have to have a reason other than you felt like it. So I think this Mother-in-law Nutcracker would make a really good gift for any who collects nutcrackers and is not very upset her in-laws moved to another state.  No reason, just because.

Long road to Suffrage

Women's Equality Day was started in 1971 by Bella Abzug to commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment  which gave full voting rights to women in 1920.  That's right women have been able to vote for less than 100 years. The woman who started the suffrage movement would be proud to know that a woman can not only vote but hold office and be a viable candidate for president.

Put an End to Spats

Kiss and Makeup Day is a great reason to end a spat.  If you had a falling out with someone and haven't made up yet today is the day to do it. Doesn't matter if it is a friend or a family member take the first step toward making up.  Even if you just call them so see how they are doing.  Of course if you are constantly having arguements with some one maybe you should give them a clue with this Things You Must Do To Make Me Happy notes.  Some people just need a bit more help than others.

Belgian or American

Today is National Waffle Day. Cornelius Swarthout pantented the first U.S. Waffle Iron on this day in 1869.  Several countries have their own variety of waffles. Some are flat while others are thick and fluffy. In some countries waffles are sold by street vendors. The real questions is how do you eat your waffle? Do you just poor syrup over the waffle and dig in or do you have to have butter and syrup in each indivual square?  If you know a waffle connoisseur a gift idea for them would be this Waffle Belt Buckle instead of a waffle iron.

Riding the Wind

Today is Ride the Wind Day.  It is a day to float on a breeze and drift in the clouds.  With summer comming to an end and cooler weather approaching enjoy the last of the warm breezes for the year.  Take time today to relax and let your worries and stress drift away.  Maybe even take the time to go fly a kite.

Old People Rock

Today in National Senior Citizen Day. Old people can be really neat and they usually have the best stories to tell.  I mean have you ever met and old person who did not have to walk 6 miles to school in snow, up hill both ways. I like old people that complain about other old people being old. But you don't dare laugh at them because those canes hurt.  If you know someone older who hasn't slowed down give them The Official Geezer Club Kit.

On Air

Today is National Radio Day. The radio dates back to the 1800's but first  became popular in the 1920's with the first radio broadcasting station opened in 1922. Radios were used to broadcast news and world affairs. Eventually broadcasting companies went on to introduce entertainment shows with broadcast such as "The War of the Worlds".

If you are a radio buff or just interested in how radios work then check out this Radio Ace Vintage Radio Kit.

Up UP and Away

Today is National Avaition Day. Aviation has come a long way since the Wright Brothers first flight in December 1903. The innovaitons of controls for fixed wing flight made modern day air travel possible.  From the Wright Brothers first flyer in 1901 to stealth jets of today aircraft have come a long way.  50 Aircraft that Changed the World is an ideal gift for airplane enthusiast.

If you were wondering why National Avaition Day is in August instead of December. It is because today is Orville's birthday. He did after all pilot the first flight.

What Rhymes with Orange

Today is Bad Poetry Day. A day in which you are to write bad poetry. Some of us gave up writing bad poetry when our English teachers stopped making us write poems.  If you are a wannabe poet at heart but just not sure you have what it takes then today you can write to all the poetry you want and it's okay if its bad.  If you are a lover of good poetry then The Sonnets is a gift for you.  It is a collection of all 150 sonnets on one page.
