What do you Want on Your Tombstone?

Tombstone With Exposed Hands

The message on your tombstone is what today's holiday is all about, because it is Plan Your Epitaph Day. As morbid as this holidays is this is something you need to think about, because this may not be a detail that you want to leave for your family to decide. If you let your family decide you could end up with something like this...

  • Here lies Fred, a rock fell on his head.
  • I made an ash out of myself.
  • Don't attempt to climb up in a tree, That's what caused the death of me.

Day of the Dead Clay Skeleton Figures

Just when you thought the Halowe’en festivities were over, her comes Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. But this holiday is not for being creepy or scary, despite the skeletons everywhere. It’s a Mexican holiday that combines All Saints Day and All Souls Day, and its origins go back thousands of years to an Aztec festival dedicated to a goddess called Mictecacihuatl. These Clay Skeleton Figures remind us of earthly pretensions while making us laugh at the same time.

Here is a little information about colors...

Red stimulates a faster heart rate and breathing.  Wearing red is a great way to get yourself noticed but it can make you look heavier. If you decorate with red use it as an accent color.

Yellow is a warm color that can increase your metabolism.  Most people associate yellow with cheerfulness, but you may want to think twice before painting your walls yellow, because people are more likely to loose their tempers in a yellow room and babies tend to cry more.

Columbus and the Astrolabe

Astrolabe Watch

An astrolabe was used to measure the angle between the zenith (point directly overhead) and a celestial body such as the sun during the day or the north star at night. Christopher Columbus would have used an astrolabe to help him navigate the ocean to the New World. This Astrolabe Watch incorporates this early astronomical insturment.

Happy Columbus Day!
