Mary Travers passed away today.  Along with Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookie they made up the folk singing trio Peter, Paul and Mary.

More Brains! Must Have Brains!

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains."

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you'd actually want to read. Seth Graham-Smith has taken Jane Austin's original book and added - you  guessed it - zombies. Voila! No longer a stuffy old piece of slow-dragging historical literature, now it's a gross-out zombie thriller.

What a great way to get your high-schooler to actuall want to read the classics!

The Backward Day Book

The Backward Day Book

Today is Backward Day. The children's book The Backward Day celebrates every child's notion of being a little stinker and trying to freak out his/her parents by doing everthing backwards. Fortunately for these parents, they are smart enough to go with the flow and participate in the child's plan.

It's nice to know that some parents can recognize and deal with their little contrarian in a constructive manner!

This book could be for some of the parents out there as much as the children.
