Don't Throw It Out

Don't Throw It Out Book

When I first saw this title I thought of my mother, because she is always fussing at me for being a pack rat. "Get rid of all that mess!", she tells me. But I know that as soon as I throw it out I will need it (whatever "it" happens to be.)

As it turns out, this book has practical, money-saving ideas for making things last longer, brought to you by Lori Baird and the editors of Yankee Magazine. It tells you how to maximise the value of just about everything you own, plus how to learn to say good–bye to possessions by recycling, donating, selling or tossing.

Wow, gotta hand it to those frugal Yankees. My hat's off to ya.

Engineers - A Breed of Their Own

Practical Stuff for Engineers

I recently had the pleasure of spending some time with a group of young engineers, mathmaticians, programmers and this one guy who works with nuclear stuff.  All very intelligent people and pretty successful in the beginning of their careers.  When I saw this gift idea, I thought of those guys.

I hate to stereo type but, they were the ultimate picture of geeky or nerdy (I'm told it all depends on who you are talking to as to which they think they are).  The conversations were interesting in that their sense of humor and what they found interesting was very different.  Since I am not "like them", I didn't get most of the jokes, analogies or references, but seeing the passion in their discussions I was highly entertained.  I think I even learned a few things, don't know where or how I will use this new knowledge but interesting all the same.

So here's to you guys for a very entertaining weekend!  Not that you need this book, just more subjects for you to analyze their worthiness.  Stuff You Don't Learn in Engineering School, from GiftsforEngineers.com.

Warning: You are Surrounded by Idiots!

Idiots at Work Book

Everybody has dumb moments at times, but there are some people that are habitually stupid.  Most of us know a few habitually stupid people and they are the reason that everything comes with warning labels.  If you find humor in idiotic behavior then you need to get the book Idiots At Work so you can read dumb quotes from business people, stupid customer service calls, and outrageous warning labels.

Here are some of my favorite warning labels......

1) "Don't use this for personal hygiene." On a can of Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner

2) "Warning: This Product Moves When Used. Exercise Caution When Riding." On a Razor Scooter

3) "Caution: Please do not use this directory while operating a moving vehicle.  On a telephone directory

I Want to be an Evil Genius!

101 Spy Gadgets Book

Spy gadgets are becoming far more advanced and Hollywood movies continue to put the spotlight on advanced techie spy gear.  Some of the gadgets you see in the movies are real, some are far fetched, but totally cool.  If you are striving to become a developer of spy gadgets like Bruce and Lloyd from the Get Smart movie then you need to develop your skills.  The book 101 Spy Gadgets For The Evil Genius from X-Treme Geek can help you build some amazing professional spy tools that will help you to become an evil genius and take over the world.

What is your favorite spy gear from the movies?  I like the Bell Rocket Belt from Thunderball, the tracking serum from Alias, the gadget-loaded Pontiac GTO from Triple X, and the flame-throwing Swiss Army Knife from Get Smart.

If You Were Curious

Space Sex Sex in Space, a book that tells all there is to know about doing "it" in space.  A good gift idea for your humping lovin' buddy who may, one day, have that opportunity.  Also, this would be a good gag gift for the guy (or gal) who has done it every where except there.  By the way, this book states that parental guidance is suggested.

Are You Eating Right?

No Diet Weight Loss Solution It is always being said that you don't give gifts that imply self improvement is needed and that is still true.  However, this book, Eat This, Not That!  could be an exception.  If you know someone that is always trying the latest diet or someone who is just interested in eating right, this book would be just for them.  It gives insight into eating out, the freezer section of the grocery store and helps you to make healthy choices.  Barnes & Noble carries this book for $13.96.

Learn About Money From Someone with Money

5 Lessons a Millionaire Taught Me

If you want to learn about money, the best teacher is someone that already has money. Sounds like common sense, doesn't it? Well, if you know someone that needs a little (or a lot!) or common sense regarding money, then The 5 Lesson a Millionaire Taught Me is the book for them. At only 133 pages it is a quick read, so they don't have any excuses about not having the time. It's also available in CD form, so they can listen to it in the car in only 2 hours.

I'm getting one for my brother, another for both of his kids, and another for his future "Ex" #2.

Hey, it's Be a Millionaire Day. I can dream, can't I?

A Comedian's Look at Men and Women

Why Men Love Bitches

Another look into the mind of a man.  Sherry Agov's, Why Men Love Bitches is a perspective on why men like strong women.  This book gives some real life relationship scenarios and answers to questions like, why men take nice girls for granted.   It helps you to stand your ground and be able to relate to men on a whole new level.

Now the title of this book is a little misleading.  Just because you are a strong woman doesn't mean you have to be a b*tch.  This book talks about being kind yet strong, not giving up your life for or chasing a man and more to creating a lasting relationship.

Of course it's a National Bestseller, all the real b*tches are reading it trying to figure out why they're not being loved by men.
