It Was 40 Years Ago Today

Skype Internet USB Phone It was 40 years ago today that the internet officially came into being. Engineers at UCLA and the Stanford Research Institue in California sent the first data between nodes, then known as Arpanet. You are reading this story now because of them. No More TV for You!

Screen Time Manager

Are you tired of your children spending to much time in front of the the TV, playing video games, or surfing the web.  Tired of setting time limits and your children sneaking and checking their MySpace page behind your back, then you need the Screen Time Manager from Brookstone.  When you say, "No more than 2 hours of TV a day" then this little machine will make sure that is all they get, because when they reach the designated limit it will cut it off.  With so many different channels and types of programs it is hard to keep up with what your kids are watching, and what they are exposed to on the internet.  Here are a few tips that you can use to help monitor what your children watch on TV and what they do online...

  • Check TV listings and read the reviews, check the ratings, most TV's have a V-chip so you can block shows with certain ratings.
  • Preview the programs.
  • Keep you computer in a common area of the house.
  • Restrict material that they can view.
  • Install software on your computer to track your kids activity online.
  • Monitor the information your kids post in chatrooms.
