Be Smart When Frying Your Turkey

Bayou Classic turkey Fryer Kit

Are you planning to fry your Thanksgiving Day turkey?  If you are then you need a good fryer, and this Bayou Classic Turkey Fryer Kit from ComforChannel.com will help you be prepared to fry a delicious turkey.  Some people are scared of frying a turkey, as they have heard the stories about people catching their house on fire, etc.  Fried turkey is a yummy way to serve your turkey and if you just follow some simple rules it can also be safe.  Here are a few tips to make sure that you don't have to call 911 for a turkey fryer accident this Thanksgiving...

  • Do not try to cook a turkey that is to big for your fryer.
  • Do not wear loose fitting baggy clothes that could fall into the grease.
  • Do not cook on your deck or in your garage, cook in the yard.
  • Keep children and pets away, you are using hot oil.
  • Make sure you thaw your turkey, hot oil and ice don't mix well.
  • Do not over fill your fryer with oil.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher close by, do not use water on the fire.

Men Cooking

Today is National Men Make Dinner Day.  I'm not sure what the person who came up with this holiday was thinking.  If a man usually cooks then this is nothing new and isn't really a holiday. However if a man normally is not allowed in the kitchen then the results could possibly be in The Complete Manual of Things that Might Kill You. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.  You know maybe a nice dinner at a resturant would be a better gift for this holiday.

For Those Who "Don't Cook"

Kitchen Came With the House Sign

This plaque from Femail Creations would be the perfect gift for those who don't cook.  You know the type, they eat out or get delivery, or only eat things that can be cooked in the microwave.  I have a sister-in-law who fits this profile.  She has never used the oven in the over 7 years she has lived in her house.  She didn't even know how to turn it on.  The real kicker about her is that she has top of the line pots and pans.  Of course, they have never been used either.  Go figure.

My, What a Fancy Fire Pit You Have!

Fire Pit and Grill

Holy frijoles! This has to be the fanciest Round Rock Fire Pit and Grill I have seen yet!

A large 36 inch grill moves up and down to adjust the grate to the heat of the fire below; a hand crank rotisserie (get the kids to take turns like they do with the ice cream), a small side grill and a pot hook - this baby has it all!

Its hard to say you're roughing it will all those features, but if playing with fire is the only way to get a man to cook, then I'm all for it. And when he's not cooking, it's a fire pit.

Pop me a cold one, I'm there!

You Are Not The Next Food Network Star!

Cooking Report Cards for Grownups

If adults received report cards for everything they did then people would perform better or there would be a rise in anxiety disorders.  This Cooking Report Card for Grownups could either help your spouse, friend, or family member develop cooking skills good enough to host a show on the Food Network or could lead to more divorces and more cases of crime against family members.  If you have found it difficult to tell a family member that they are a horrible cook then maybe you need these report cards then you don't have to tell them to their face.  Or you could always try giving them hints that they can't cook.

1)Pray after you eat.

2)Buy Antacids in bulk packages and bring them to the dinner table.

3)Make 911 the first number on your speed dial.

Beer - It's What's for Dinner

Now we're cooking - with beer!

Got beer?

Got beer left over from last night's party that just isn't your favorite brew? Or maybe you know someone that has a slightly different cooking style that doesn't mind pouring one into his favorite chili recipe.

I have tried Broccoli Cheese Soup and Fish and Chips with a traditional beer batter, and I have to admit that the beer does add something to the taste.

This cookbook has 101 recipes for cooking with beer.  Enjoy!
