Save the Planet - Save the Chocolate!

Save the Earth T-Shirt

So, you want to pass on an eco-friendly vibe but you don't want to come off as some kind of tree hugger? Then try this Save Earth - It's the Only Planet with Chocolate T-Shirt. I've used this phrase as an email tag-line, and even my most ultra-conservative friends (especially the females) whole heartedly agree!

No one can disagree with you when Chocolate is at stake!

Garden Apron for Kids

Personalized Garden Apron for Kids

Wednesday, April 22 is the 40th Annual Earth Day. One way to get your children to appreciate their planet is to let them help you with the gardening. It can be in a yard or windowbox; even a paper cup with a seed and a bit of soil. They will feel like a big gardener with this cotton canvas Garden Apron for Kids. Three pockets can hold gloves, seeds, and tools - all the things a young gardener needs. You can even personalize it with an embroidered name or their initials.

Let's all go play in the dirt today!

I Am Crushing You! (pinch pinch)

Wall Mount Can Crusher

Okay, so maybe so didn't watch the Kids in the Hall and you didn't get the (pinch pinch) reference. Sorry. But this Wall Mounted Can Crusher will make light work of crushing your aluminum cans. That makes them a lot easier to recycle, whether you donate them to a local school, turn them in for cash, or place them in a recycle bin, those cans will take up a lot less space if you are crushing them.

Also works to take out a little frustration at the end of the day.

"I am crushing you!"

Recycled Flip-Flop Doormat

Recycled Flip-Flop doormat

These colorful and durable Recycled Flip-Flop Doormats are created from the surplus foam rubber from the production of flip-flops. Galvanized metal wire holds everything together, making this a very sturdy piece of ecologically smart decor. Two sizes are currently available.

While you're at Uncommon Goods, check out their other recycled flip-flop products. Keeping this stuff out of the landfills is an important part of living green.

Compost in Your Kitchen

Odor Free Compost Caddy

Didn't think you could compost indoors? This heavy duty plastic Compost Caddy includes a charcoal filter to keep it odor free. It can hold up to 2.5 gallons of compost and each filter will last up to 4 months. This caddy is perfect for keeping compost close by for use on your indoor plants.

Using your uncooked vegetable scraps keeps trash out of the landfill and puts it back into your plants, so you don't have to buy expensive fertilizer. Sounds like a win-win to me!

Great for people with small yards or apartments.

Hemp - It's Great in the Bathroom

Hemp Showe Curtain

No, not like that! The Hemp Shower Curtain is an eco-friendly alternative. Hemp has a natural resistance to mildew (it's not mildew proof).  It can be machine washed and will resist leaking through when it gets wet. This one is hand-crafted here in the USA of extremely strong, durable and beautiful Romanian hemp fabric, with sturdy, rustproof nickel plated brass grommets.

You don't need that nasty plastic liner, it's washable, it lasts a long time, plus you're keeping plastic out of the landfill. Sounds like a plan to me!

Earth Day is April 22.

A Little Healing Tea For Your Garden

Compost Tea Bag

If your garden is like mine it can use all the help it can get. This Earth Healer Garden Compost Tea will make it happy-happy! The Trappist Monks at the Mepkin Abbey in South Carolina are well known for their beautiful gardens, and they have an extensive compost operation, thanks to their hens (egg-laying chickens for all you city slickers) and lots of dried pine shavings.

This half-pound environmentally responsible and ecologically safe "tea" bag can be used several times. So tell your plants to "drink up" and be happy!
