Tonight there is a new moon. This is when the dark part of the moon faces the Earth, so it looks like there is no moon at all. Astromomers like this night because it is the best for viewing the stars with a telescope. The new moon is the beginning of the month in lunar calendars.

Today is Moon Day.  Somehow that just doesn't seem right. Shouldn't it be Moon Night.  Actually today is the Anniversay of the first moon landing.  That was way before my time but i'm sure every one knows Neil Armstrongs famous words as he became the firt man to walk on the moon.  Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin spent the day walking on the moon collecting samples and testing weightlessness.  The U.S. carried out a total of six moon landings.
