MoonMark™ Bookmarks

Lunar Cycle Bookmarks

Tonight there is a new moon. This is when the dark part of the moon faces the Earth, so it looks like there is no moon at all. Astromomers like this night because it is the best for viewing the stars with a telescope. The new moon is the beginning of the month in lunar calendars.

Keep track of the phases of the moon with these MoonMark™ Bookmarks. Printed on reflective Mylar (shiny!)  to be a real eye-catcher and very durable. Sold in packs of 25, so give them to your class, your students or your friends.

Calendar of Daily Moon Phases

Moon Phase Calendar

Mine is a family of sky watchers, so we like to keep track of the phases of the moon. Did you know that there is a Blue Moon in December of 2009? Most years have twelve full moons, and a Blue Moon is an extra full moon that happens every 2.72 years.

This beautiful MoonLight™ 2009 Moon Calendar of Daily Moon Phases comes rolled in a tube and includes a MoonWatcher guide.

Today is the Autumnal Equinox (referring to the Sun this time). This marks the beginning of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

(Yes, I know - they need a new image for next year's calendar!)

The Gibbous Moon is Waxing on the Vernal Equinox

Moon Phase Clock

No idea what that means? For the uninformed, it means that the moon is growing larger towards being full, and that this year, March 20 is the first day of Spring. That is the Vernal Equinox.

A lot of our calendar has lunar-based events (Easter, Mardi Gras, the seasons), so keep up with the phases of the moon with this Lunar Phase Clock. Not only does it tell time, it tells you when to avoid the werewolves and lunatics! (Ever worked retail? You know what I mean!)

So keep looking up!

Lunar Effect Fact or Fiction?

Moon Phase Clock

If you love the night sky, then last night's total lunar eclipse was probably the highlight of your night.  I have always heard that the full moon brings out the "crazies", which is called the lunar effect.  This has been tested and cannot be supported by scientific studies, but I do not base everything on "scientific facts" as they can change their "facts" today, tomorrow, or next month.  Do the "crazies" come out during the full moon?   I think they do, werewolves (just kidding) criminals, stabbings, and even the 2000 Presidential Election has been associated with lunar cycles.   I guess we will not be able to use the lunar effect as an excuse when the next Presidential Election comes around, but with the choices we may need something to blame it on.

If you love the beautiful moon, and want to keep up with the changes then this moon phase clock will make a nice addition to any home.  If you missed the total lunar eclipse, there will not be another until 2010, but you do not have to miss the next full moon with this cool moon phase clock.
