A perfect gift for Lost Penny Day, a pound of pennies. From Things You Never Knew Existed, a penny from all six decades the one cent piece was minted. Why do people save their pennies? Is it because of the old saying, a penny earned is a penny saved? Or is it just because they aren't worth enough to take up space in your pocket or coin purse? Who knows, but today would be the day to cash in all those pennies you have been collecting. By the way, it is also Lincoln's Birthday. I don't know if it was planned or just coincidence, that both fall on the same day seeing as how Lincoln's profile graces one side of the penny. |
