Red Poppy Necklace

Red Poppy Necklace

Pennsylvania artist Diane Kline creates small prints of her original paintings and transforms them into lovely eco-friendly works of wearable art. This Red Poppy Necklace is one example of her individually crafted, handmade jewelry.

The red poppy was adopted by the British and Canadian Legions as a symbol or remembrace for WWI and  a way to raise funds for veterans. Even in the US, veterans give out a small imitation red poppy when receiving donations around Memorial Day. In Britain it is known as Armistice Day and was renamed Remembrance Day after the WWII. It is held there on November 11.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row by row,...

Eco Retro Mixing Bowl Set

Confetti Mixing Bowl Set These festive bowls remind me of Grandma's 50's kitchen from my childhood - colorful aluminum glasses, milkshake blenders, metal edged countertops and those color flecked kitchen tables with vinyl padded metal chairs. This 4 Piece Confetti Mixing Bowl Set has heavy duty bowls made from recycled melamine so they're eco-friendly and dishwasher safe, too. Kind of reminds me of the color wheel that came with the aluminum Christmas tree...

Feed the Birds and Listen to the Hum

Botanica Hummingbird Feeder

You can never have too many feeders, and this Botanica Hummingbird Feeder will fit in beautifully with any outdoor decor. Made from handblown recycled glass, it is also eco-friendly, not that the hummingbirds will notice. With two red glass flowers and holding 7 ounces of nectar, this should keep them occupied for a while. Includes a removable decanter-style top for easy refilling and cleaning.

This hummer is a boy. In species common to the southeast USA, females have white on the tips of their tail feathers.

Tip: Hummingbird feeder sugar water recipe: Use a 1/4 ratio. In other words, 1/4 cup (2 oz) of sugar to one cup (8 oz) of water.

Don't color the sugar water red. They can't see it inside the feeder and they don't need it. Thanks!

Just Hangin' Around

Metal Hanging Bat Sculpture

Although I am more of a gnome person myself, I'm a sucker for whimsical garden scultures. Especially if they will freak out my neighbors. This Hanging Garden Bat Sculpture should do the trick. Each one is individually created with rusted steel. They come in several styles - with open wings or closed wings, and facing either left or right.

Those people at Modern Artisans make some great stuff. Handcrafted in Arizona, right here in the USA.

Now, where to put it...

Unleash Your Inner Robot Rock Star!

Rocking Robot

This unique Rock Star Robot Statue is a great way to decorate your home with geeky style.  This eco-friendly piece of art is handmade using recycled picnic jugs, thermoses, and vacuum cleaner tubes.

It is like Bender from Futurama meets The King of Rock-n-Roll!  The King never had to fake any of his talent.  So if you are thinking about "faking it" till you "make it"  just remember what Bender said when he had the bright idea about "faking it" on stage, " I was a hero to broken robots, because I was one of them!  But how can I sing about being damaged if I'm not?  That's like Christina Aguilera singing in Spanish. Wait, that's it - I'll fake it!"

Wine Barrel Cooler

Wine Barrel Cooler

Talk about high-end recycling! Okay, some purists would call this "reusing", but let's not get technical here. This Wine Barrel Cooler is made from a recycled white oak barrel and sits on a wrought iron stand. It comes with a watertight liner and drain faucet.

Great for just about any type of big bash, indoors or out.

Expensive, but impressive as heck!
