Don't these look like kid's sippy cups?  They are actually for Port and are for the wine connoissuer.  The way these are designed they are supposed to give you the ultimate experience of drinking liqueurs.  By drinking from the bottom it avoids oxidation and gives you the full bodied flavor.

Obviously, I am not a wine connoissuer and don't drink port.  Beer is my drink of choice, and I will throw back a cold one every once in a while.  Now with that said, I heard that drinking through a straw you will get drunker quicker.  I don't know if it's true or not but basically isn't this drinking through a straw.  Is this the hoity toity way of looking more sophisticated when they are actually trying to get drunk?

I have shown enough of my lack of "the finer things", we need a drinking experts comments on this one.  Anyone want to set me straight and give me a lesson in the art of fine drinking?
